About 22,000 volunteers from 52 countries are going to Ukraine. They want to fight in the International Volunteer Legion.
Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stated this, reports Liga.net.
"It is their free will. Ukraine did not hire or induce them. It is their voluntary willingness to fight on the side of good. I have no right to report how many of them there are. But the total number of applications is almost 22,000," Dmytro Kuleba emphasized.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that there is a large quantity of requests from foreign volunteers, including experienced veterans. They are being processed. And the mobilization of free people around the world is "simply impressive."
In its turn, The New York Times reports that American veterans are preparing en masse to join the International Volunteer Legion.
Earlier, on February 27, President Zelensky called on all foreigners who want to protect security in Europe to join Ukraine's International Territorial Defense Legion. On February 28, a legion of volunteers was formed.
On the same day, Zelensky signed Decree №82 / 2022, introducing a visa-free regime for foreigners who will help protect Ukraine from Russian aggression.
