As of 1 March, Ukraine's FX reserves, according to preliminary data, amounted to 27,537.9mn dollars, according to the press service of the National Bank of Ukraine.

"This amount provides funding for 3.8 months of current imports, which is sufficient to meet Ukraine's obligations and current operations of the government and the National Bank," the NBU said.

The level of international reserves fell by 5.3% in February, but exceeded the figure with which Ukraine entered the coronavirus crisis in early March 2020, namely 27bn dollars.

The National Bank explained that among the reasons for the decline in February were primarily payments on external liabilities of the state and the interventions of the National Bank, necessary to smooth out excessive foreign exchange market fluctuations.

Earlier, NBU reported that hundreds of billions of dollars will be required for the recovery of the Ukrainian economy after the war.
