The Russian occupiers send lengthy appeals to the leaders of Ukrainian cities calling on them to surrender - CCD

The Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) at the National Security and Defense Council reported that the Russian occupiers keep sending lengthy proposals to the leaders of Ukrainian cities and regions, in an attempt to force them to surrender.

"At the moment the Irpin mayor, Oleksandr Markushin, has received an offer to cooperate with the Russian invaders with promises to save his life and even enrich him personally. The mayor's answer was as expected: "Irpin will not surrender, Irpin is not for sale, Irpin continues the fight!" The Kharkiv Regional State Administration deputy head, Roman Semenukha, received a similar proposal from the aggressor to start negotiations and hand over the city. The enemy received an angry answer: "The Russians invited me to surrender. You are ridiculous. Our victory is coming soon!" ” reported CCD.

The Centre expressed hope that the invaders' appeals to the other leaders of Ukrainian cities and regions would also fall on stony ground.

On 8 March, the mayor of Kharkiv, Igor Terekhov, said that he had received the offer from the Russian occupiers to hand over the city.

On 7 March, the Kharkiv Regional State Administration deputy head, Roman Semenukha, said that the Russian occupiers had offered to start negotiations on the power transition in the region.
