A patrol boat "Slоvyansk" of the Ukrainian Naval Forces sank in the Odesa region as a result of a missile strike by Russian troops. It was reported by the press service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. 

"The Slovyansk" patrol boat bravely fulfil its tasks to the last. The patrol boat" Slavyansk " have provided defense from the sea from the first days of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into the territory of Ukraine", - the statement said. 

It is noted that during another combat mission the ship was attacked by the Russians from the air. During the battle, he got combat damage and sank. The crew bravely resisted the occupying forces to the last. 

The part of the crew was saved thanks to professionalism, training and confident actions during the search and rescue operation. Unfortunately, not everyone was saved, the rest of the crew went missing. We will never forget and we will not forgive! "- the press service stressed. 

It should be reminded that Slovyansk is one of the Island patrol boats that Ukraine received from the United States in 2018. They were called Drummond and Cushing, and later the boats got the names "Slovyansk" and "Starobilsk".
