Bellingcat investigating journalist Christo Grozev believes that Russia's bloody war against Ukraine could end in 7-10 days. The occupying country understands that it is getting weaker, and it is more profitable for them to freeze hostilities, he said in an interview with Olesya Batsman.
"It is hard to call it the end because it will most likely not be an intermittent end - the war ends today - I'm afraid it will be a period in which it will be unclear whether the war is over or not. But there will be no more bloodshed, and that is the most important thing. We are approaching this, it is a matter of a week or 10 days. Because Russia's position is weakening, they understand that, and it will be better for them not to admit that the war is over because they would also have to admit that it is lost, but rather to stop it at some frozen stage," - the investigator says.
The journalist suggests that the leadership of Russian Federation could change after the conflict is frozen.
He added that it would be hard for Russian President Vladimir Putin to declare the end of the war, as the number of servicemen killed during the attack on Ukraine would then be clear.
Grozev also says that the main objective of the war unleashed by Russia was to seize or liquidate Ukraine's political leadership.
According to the US Department of Defense, Russia has used almost 100% of its troops concentrated on Ukraine's borders.
Russia's losses in Ukraine over the 14 days of the war exceed 12,000 personnel.
