President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that the state is doing everything to help the cities invaded by Russian occupation forces.
He stated this in a video message.
"One of the main tasks for us today was the organization of humanitarian corridors. Sumy, Trostianets, Krasnopillia, Irpin', Bucha, Hostomel', Izium. Almost 40,000 of our people have already been evacuated this day. So, we could guarantee their safety in Poltava, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Zaporizhia, Dnipro, Lviv… But…cities Mariupol and Volnovakha remain fully blockaded. Although we did everything in our power to organize humanitarian corridors, Russian troops haven't ceased firing," - said Zelenskyy.
The President has also pointed out that he decided to send a convoy of trucks with food, water, and medicines. The occupiers, however, began the tanks’ offensive right in the place where the corridor was supposed to be.
"It was a corridor of life of Mariupol citizens. They did it knowingly. They knew what there are disrupting. They have a clear command to hold Mariupol hostage and torture in constant bombardment and shelling. Today, they have destroyed the main building of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Donetsk region. Exactly near this building, people should have gathered for evacuation. This is an up-front terror. Daring terror. A terror from experienced terrorists. The world must know about it. The world should acknowledge it. We are all dealing with terrorist-country,"- stressed Zelenskyy.
The President also added that the authorities would keep trying to deliver help, that people need to Mariupol.
In the daylight, the enemy continued shelling of residential districts in Mariupol. In addition, the enemy hit the building of Pryazovskyy State Technical University in the city center. The bombardments near Drama Theater were fixed.
Yesterday, Russian artillery shelled maternity hospital and children's hospital. The minister of foreign policy in Russia, Serhey Lavrov, confirmed that the shelling of maternity hospitals and children's hospitals was the Russian army's deliberate and purposeful decision.
