In Melitopol, more than 2000 people gathered for a peaceful protest against occupiers. They demanded that the Mayor, Ivan Fedorov, be released - the deputy head of the President’s Office, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, reports on Telegram. 

“More than 2000 people came out to the seized building of the Melitopol district state administration with the demand to release the town’s mayor, Ivan Fedorov,” the statement says. 

On March 11, the occupiers abducted the mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov. Earlier, he refused to cooperate with the enemy. The occupiers detained him in the city crisis center, where he was dealing with the issues of livelihood of the Ukrainian city. 

As reported, occupiers block Internet and cell reception in Melitopol. The Russian military has repeatedly seized the TV and radio towers. Local and state authorities have no control over the content broadcast via TV and radio in the city. 

On March 10, the Russian military abducted the member of the Zaporizhzhia regional council, Leila Ibrahimova, in Melitopol. She was later released.
