The “execution by shooting squads” are following the Russian forces in Ukraine, killing the deserters, the 22-year old senior minesweeper from the occupational troops told during the interrogation by the Security Service of Ukraine. He claims that he was sent to Ukraine “for training.”
The Russian said that his unit crossed the Ukrainian border in Armiansk, after which they moved for six days towards Mykolaiv. After the fight with the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Russians surrendered.
“We saw that we are not coming here as peacekeepers but to fight. When we asked our commander what the hell we were doing here, we suggested we turn back and go home… He said we would not get back home; the squads behind us are killing for desertion,” he said.
The occupier added that other servicemen also reported squads created for killing Russian who wanted to flee. He also said they had been lied to about the lack of civilians in the towns and that the missiles did not target civilians.
According to the soldier, near Odesa, 600 occupiers refused to leave the ship when they understood what was waiting for them. He also says that the only way to stay alive is to surrender.
Fedir Venislavskyy, a member of the profile committee, voiced similar information. He said that there are “barricading squads” of Chechens in the Kyiv region, which prevent the Russian military from surrendering and retreating.
