The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenski applied to the Italian people with the request to support the Ukrainian nation in its fight against Russian aggression by pressuring Italian companies that still work in Russia, and also pressuring the government of Italy to support closing the Ukrainian skies.

Zelenski’s request was posted on the Facebook page of the President.

The President explained that since the beginning of the Russian invasion, occupants have killed 79 Ukrainian children.

“.. Your people and our people are very much alike. We both value freedom. We both value equality. We both want to live. We both want only the best, the brightest for our children, for our families. But the way we live now is not the same. Now, when there’s war happening. And when thousands of people died in this war. And when 79 children died,” - pointed out Zelenski.

He added that nothing stops the Russian aggressors as they continue shelling schools, daycares, hospitals, maternity wards, universities.

“This is a war not just against our people, not just against Ukrainians. This is the war against core values that unite us with you. Against our way of life. Our desire is to live and not kill, something that the Russian military does on our land. Do you see why we are different from them? We live. And they kill. We - 79 lives. And they - 79 deaths,” - continued the President.

Zelenski indicated that the Italian nation can help Ukraine.

“Continue pressuring companies in YOUR countries to leave the Russian market. So that YOU do not continue to be indirect sponsors of this war. Reach out to your politicians to demand to protect Ukrainian skies from Russian missiles and airplanes,” - pointed out Zelenski.

He stressed that further strengthening of sanctions against Russia is necessary, “so that every Russian soldier knew the price of every shot fired at a civilian. Businesses should be united so that the Russian State does not have money to spend on ruining people’s lives”.

As a reminder, on March 12, Russian occupants started firing towards a group of women and children that were moving along a “green corridor” in the Kyiv region. As a result, seven people died, including one child.

On March 9, Russia shelled a maternity ward and a children’s hospital in Mariupol.
