As of 14 March, 90 children were killed and more than 100 were injured during the war waged by Russia against Ukraine, as reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General with reference to juvenile prosecutors.
Most victims were in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kherson, Mykolayiv, and Zhytomyr regions.
Only yesterday, two children died and the other two were wounded after the attacks against civil infrastructure in Mykolayiv region.
The bombing and shelling damaged 379 educational institutions, 59 of which were destroyed.
The severest destruction was inflicted to Donetsk region with 119 educational institutions affected, followed by Mykolayiv region with 30, Sumy region with 28, Kyiv region with 35, Kherson region with 21, Kyiv city with 24 destroyed educational institutions.
“These figures are not final, given the inability to inspect the scene where the Russian army is conducting active hostilities and in the temporarily occupied territories,” the prosecutor’s office added.
The UN Committee on the Rights of the Child demands that the Russian Federation cease hostilities and fulfill its obligations to protect children from physical and psychological violence.
