Oleksandr Lukashenko, who considers himself the president of Belarus, declares that his only friend, the president of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, offers Ukraine the same things as those happening in Belarus. In other words, Ukraine “has to become the same as Belarus, but with certain nuances”.
This is what Lukashenko told the Japanese TV channel TBS, Belta reports.
“It (Ukraine) mustn’t have any nuclear weapons, threaten Russia, forbid people living in Ukraine to speak any language,” Lukashenko described Putin’s wishes.
“You don’t forbid your people in Japan to speak Russian or English. The same must be in Ukraine. No one can limit others,” he addressed the Japanese journalist.
In Lukashenko’s opinion, Putin is offering Zelenskyy an option of a treaty which is “clearly acceptable” and “Russia won’t lose this war”.
Lukashenko lied again that “no Belarussian soldier is fighting in Ukraine''. “We aren’t attacking Ukraine, we aren’t bombarding Ukraine, and no one is asking us to do it,” he said, but at the same time he threatened “to respond” if Ukraine “continues the escalation”.
Then Lukashenko began to talk about Putin’s health and physical state.
“If you think that Putin is not healthy – he is very much alive. He’s an absolutely adequate and normal person. He is at his best,” Lukashenko claimed.
Now Putin is 69 years old. In 2020 a British tabloid newspaper The Sun was issued with a headline that the Russian president “is planning to quit early next year amid growing fears for his health”. The newspaper referred to its Moscow sources and Kremlin watchers. In the footage of a chronicle with Putin, those watchers noticed that he had possible symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease.
One more British tabloid, Daily Mail, published an article with similar content.
As a reminder, the official media of Belarus, which are not very different from propagandist Russian media, started asserting that Ukraine was getting ready to attack Belarus on 23-24 February. This way Lukashenko is trying to justify Putin’s military invasion of Ukraine. He went to see Putin in person and tell him about it one more time. Also, the self-proclaimed “president” of Belarus makes contradictory statements again and again. First, he claims that Russia and Belarus haven’t attacked Ukraine, then he says that it was a “preventive attack”.
In reality, Russian aircraft take off from the territory of Belarus (Luninets, Baranovichi, Lida airfields). These aircraft bombard Ukrainian cities in the Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, Kyiv, and other regions of Ukraine. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the main directions from which Russia carries out strikes on Ukraine are Belarus and the Black Sea.
On 12 March the Ministry of Defence of Belarus declared that they were sending 5 battalion tactical groups to the Ukrainian border. At the same time, the official denied that this was part of the preparation for entering the war on Russia’s side. The Ukrainian General Staff assesses the likelihood of the Belarussian army taking part in the war against Ukraine as high.
