The MP, Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee, Yevheniia Kravchuk, announced that the specialised committee of the Verkhovna Rada would deprive eight famous Russian performers of honorary titles awarded in Ukraine. Five of the artists are natives of Ukraine.

According to the deputy, the Committee for Humanitarian and Information Policy appealed to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to deprive the following artists of state awards, honorary titles "People's Artist of Ukraine" and "Merited Artist of Ukraine":

  • Nikolai Baskov is a Russian singer, Merited Artist of the Russian Federation. In 2004 he was also awarded the title of "People's Artist of Ukraine". As of 25 February 2022, he was not deprived of this title, despite his anti-Ukrainian statements and support for the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022;
  • Volodymyr Bortko is a Soviet and Russian filmmaker and politician, a film director, screenwriter and producer of Ukrainian origin. Merited Art Worker of Russia (1994). People's Artist of the Russian Federation (2000). People's Artist of Ukraine (2003). Member of the State Duma of the VI convocation from the Communist Party;
  • Vasyl Gerelle is a native of Vaslovivtsi, Chernivtsi region, an opera singer, Merited Artist of Ukraine, People's Artist of Russia, who performed at the ZConcert in support of the war against Ukraine;
  • Filip Kirkorov is a Soviet and Russian pop singer, producer, People's Artist of Ingushetia (2006), Russia (2008) and Ukraine (2008). He is known for his pro-Russian and Ukrainophobic views;
  • Igor Krutoy is a native of Gaivoron, Kirovohrad region, a composer, owner and head of the producer company "ARS Records", an independent copyright agency, several Russian and foreign music media (the TV channel "Muz-TV", radio stations "Love-radio" and "Radio Dacha"), People's Artist of Russia (1996), People's Artist of Ukraine (2011);
  • Karolina Kuek (Ani Lorak) is a native of Kitsman in Bukovyna, a Ukrainian singer and People's Artist of Ukraine. She represented Ukraine at the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade, where she took 2nd place. After the annexation of Crimea and the beginning of the war in eastern Ukraine, she mostly gave concerts and lived in Russia. It caused criticism in Ukraine; protests and clashes with police accompanied her shows in various cities of Ukraine. Lorak, in particular, performed at the concerts "Blue Eternity" dedicated to the 320th anniversary of the Navy of the Russian Federation, and at a show devoted to the Russian Army;
  • Svitlana Loboda was born in Kyiv. She is a singer, Merited Artist of Ukraine (2013). In 2009 she represented Ukraine at the 54th Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow, where she took 12th place. Before her solo career, she was a member of the Ukrainian bands Cappuccino and VIA Gra. She is known as the host and participant of the " Showmania " TV program on the "Novyy Kanal". After the Russian occupation of Crimea, she continued performing in Russia. In particular, she participated in Russian propaganda TV shows and later refused concerts in Ukraine;
  • Taisiya Povaliy is a native of Shamraivka village, Skvyra district, Kyiv region; a Ukrainian singer, People's Artist of Ukraine. She was also People's Deputy of Ukraine of the 7th convocation, the second number in the Party of Regions list. On 17 September 2014, together with a group of deputies, she visited the State Duma of Russia. The Main Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has opened criminal proceedings under the article on encroachment on the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

"Real Ukrainian artists are doing their best to support our state by volunteering; many artists have even joined the Armed Forces. The others continue to sell their dignity for bloody rubles, deny or silence the war, supporting the Russian aggression against Ukraine. These people will not have any honours in Ukraine at the human level and officially," Yevheniia Kravchuk stressed.
