The deployment of peacekeepers can be realistic for humanitarian convoys and to withdraw the population from places in danger.
The People's Deputy of Ukraine ("Servant of the People" faction), member of the Committee on National Security and Defense of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Fedir Venislavskyy, stated this on the air, the Verkhovna Rada press service reports.
"Peacekeepers, as a rule, as the history of armed conflicts and wars shows, can only temporarily freeze the conflict or freeze the status quo for a long time," he said.
According to Venislavskyy, it is crucial for Ukraine that peacekeepers provide humanitarian corridors and not be on any demarcation line between Ukrainian troops and the occupier's troops.
"I don't think it's a good idea. And as for humanitarian convoys and humanitarian issues, I think taking people out of places where they are in danger can be realistic. But let's wait not only for political statements but for specific legal decisions on these measures that will help Ukraine save citizens' lives," added the MP.
During a visit to Kyiv, the Polish Deputy Prime Minister and leader of the Law and Justice Party, Jarosław Kaczyński, said that Ukraine needs a "NATO peacekeeping mission of a broader international coalition".
The Danish government has stated that it is ready to send troops to Ukraine as part of a peacekeeping mission.
