80% of Irpin city near Kyiv is controlled by the Ukrainian army and territorial defense units. However, there are many sabotage groups of the enemy and maradeurs in the city. The locals themselves report about them.
Mayor Oleksandr Markushin spoke about the situation in the city on the UA Together TV marathon, TSN reports.
“The city has already been attacked with 20 cluster bombs of 10 cassettes each,” he said. (ed. - cluster bombs are prohibited as a category of weapons)
The night before, the Mayor of Irpin said that the occupants had destroyed his house. According to Markushin, he miraculously survived that morning as he went to work. “They started bombing my house; it burned to the ground. It happened just about one hour after I left. This is the situation. This means that I am still needed here,” said Olexandr Markushin.
Answering the questions on how many times the occupants offered him to surrender the city, the leader of Irpin said that by no way he would get his consent to such offers.
“They sent me a text message, I informed about it on Facebook. It is impossible to negotiate with me: I have my city, my country, and my president, and we will fight for what is ours – we will not give up a single meter,” he said.
