In his evening address to the citizens of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy summarized the events of the week that took place in various areas of life during the war. The video was published on the official YouTube channel of the President's Office.
“There is important news from our government officials. First of all, they have already started paying pensions scheduled for April. In particular, the Pension Fund has transferred to Oshadbank the entire amount of pensions for Chernihiv and Luhansk regions. Tomorrow people will have money on their cards, and Ukrposhta will distribute cash. Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, payments of April pensions will continue in other regions of eastern and central Ukraine. A wave of payments will cover the entire country during the following days. It is one of our priorities now. The Ukrainian state has fulfilled and will continue to fulfill all obligations to our citizens, our retirees,” said the President.
Zelenskyy also said that the program of ePidtrymka [e-support] for people who have lost their jobs or failed to continue their business has already paid more than 20 billion hryvnia. For those who were forced to leave home, the Cabinet is preparing additional support measures.
“Officials are preparing a new support program for our IDPs from the affected by the war zones. The regional administrations have been given a clear task to allocate land for temporary housing for displaced persons quickly. I want to emphasize once again: this is temporary housing. Once we establish peace, we will begin the immediate large-scale reconstruction of our state, but now people need a temporary home. Their own home. And it would better be a house in Ukraine than somewhere abroad. We pay cash to help, and we give jobs. These are our people, our country. All the details of this support program will be presented by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal,” Zelenskyy said.
In addition, the President congratulated the State Security of Ukraine on the occasion of its anniversary; listed the achievements and losses of Ukraine on the battlefield; summed up the work of humanitarian corridors; and thanked the journalists who led the national television marathon.
