Russia targets Krasnohorivka with cluster munitions - National Police

The Donetsk regional police informed that the Russian occupiers had fired at the residential sector of Krasnohorivka (Donetsk region) from Tornado-C multiple rocket launchers. They used prohibited cluster munitions during the shelling.

Ammunition fell on the streets of the residential area in Krasnohorivka. Therefore, law enforcement officers urged residents not to come close to dangerous finds as they can detonate at any moment.

"Currently, the police have surrounded the dangerous area. Police and SES explosive technicians detect and neutralize cumulative elements. According to preliminary information, the self-destruction time of the elements can be up to 40 hours, which means being near them is deadly," the police said.

Police added that they had already recorded cases when people got injured people while handling cluster munitions in the Donetsk region.

The police opened a criminal case under Article 438 of the Criminal Code - violation of the laws and customs of war.

The Donetsk regional police reported that about 18 children were killed from shell explosions for the past month.

The Ukrainian Deminers Association reported explosive objects on 82.5 thousand square kilometres of Ukrainian territory. All these territories, which is 14% of the Ukrainian area of Ukraine, are further subject to demining.
