If, according to safety measures, it becomes impossible to use the current premises of the Parliament (“under the dome”), we’ll find other options to continue the legislative work. But at the moment a Law Project regarding distant voting has been postponed.
This has been mentioned by the First Deputy of Verkhovna Rada Head - Oleksandr Kornienko, in his interview to LB.ua.
These options are not on the table yet [the option of temporary relocation of the Parliament to Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk or Ternopil]. We can revisit this question based on the actual circumstances. Until there is a possibility to get together and work in Kyiv, we’ll stay. I think this opportunity remains. Because this is of high importance. This supports our military forces and civil ukraininans which observe how our authorities operate. We want people to see this! We stay absolutely close to our nation,” - he declared.
Kornienko considers that continuing the work of Parliament in the current premises “under the dome” is a very important and symbolic factor.
“Also we understand that when the Parliament session is held not in the current Parliamentary building, it would automatically mean that voting by hands would be applied [in the current Parliament hall electronic voting system is used],” - First Deputy of Verkhovna Rada Head added.
At the same time, if, according to safety measures, it becomes impossible for the Parliament to continue operating in Kyiv, then other options to continue legislative work would be considered.
Also Kornienko added that the Law Project regarding the possibility of distant voting, that has been suggested in the Parliament in the beginning of March, has been reviewed by the Committee and suggested to be voted for as a draft version. But, at the moment, it was not included in the agenda of Parliament within the last three sessions.
