The information was shared by the State Forest Agency.
The average area of one fire increased 7 times.
“Unfortunately a problem of burning of dry land in fields and homesteads by locals remains the main root cause. Once again, I would like to remind that these actions are a crime against common sense. Stop and don’t burn dry grass.” highlighted Yuri Bolokhovets, the head of State Agency of Forest Resources of Ukraine.
In addition, fires occur as a result of enemy shelling (both from the ground and from the sea) and through subversive activities (Mykolaiv, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk and Odesa regions). Extinguishing forest fires in these areas is becoming more complicated due to the presence of unexploded ammunition and mined forest areas.
On Saturday, March 26, according to the Ministry of Environment the aggression of the Russian occupiers caused fires, affecting more than 10 thousand hectares in the exclusion zone.
On March 28, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that the main fires in the Chornobyl exclusion zone had been extinguished and currently there are no major active fires.
