The French Consulate General in Moscow has announced the gradual resumption of visas for Russians.
According to the Consulate General's website, restrictions on entry to France related to the Covid-19 pandemic for people arriving from Russia have recently been eased. Visa applications are now available for many categories of applicants.
Also, from 1 April, it will be possible to apply for tourist visas, again without restrictions related to COVID.
The French consulate stressed that "obtaining a visa does not automatically allow entry into France ... there are restrictive measures at the border."
"To find out if you have the right to enter France, you need to refer to the article on international travel permits on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs," the agency said.
Despite this, the Russians are unlikely to be able to use the services of their carriers to get to France. The European Union’s Aviation Security Agency (EASA) has imposed restrictive measures against Russia in connection with the military invasion of Ukraine. EASA has suspended all certificates if their holders reside in the Russian Federation or are otherwise subject to sanctions. This means that aircraft without the appropriate certificates will not be able to fly in EU airspace.
