German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has stated Germany's readiness to act as a guarantor of Ukraine's security.
According to the Chancellor's spokesman, Scholz spoke about this in a conversation with the President of Ukraine, writes Reuters.
In particular, a spokesman for Chancellor Steffen Hebestreit told reporters that Scholz told Zelensky about the "general readiness" to take part in the role of guarantor.
Hebestreit added that he did not want to speculate whether the guarantor's role was a military component.
Ukraine insists that the war with Russia should end with signing of an international agreement guaranteeing security. It is being proposed that the countries-guarantors are expected to have three days to consult in the event of a new attack on Ukraine, after which they should assist countries in repelling attacks, including closing the skies and other necessary steps.
Ukraine proposes that the member states of the UN Security Council take part in the signing of the agreement and, among others, the United States, Germany, Turkey. Russia is also included there.
