Ukrainian assault troops take control of Prypyat region, Belarus border section

Ukrainian assault troops took control of the Prypyat region and the state border area with Belarus.

This was announced on Facebook by the command of the Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"Yes, today, 3 April 2022, the units of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine took control of the area of the city of Prypiat and the State Border of Ukraine with the Republic of Belarus," - the statement said.

From the first days of the war, the russians occupied the CNPP (Chornobyl nuclear power plant) and the nearby municipalities, including Prypiat. They were positioned together with weapons and ammunition right near the CNPP, which posed an extreme emergency risk. The occupiers decided to dig trenches in the so-called Red Forest, more than 202 square meters of trees near the NPP, which absorbed a hefty dose of radiation after the 1986 disaster.

The occupiers went there without protective suits and raised clouds of radioactive dust there. As a result, they were taken to the medical center in Homel under the guise of the wounded to be treated for radiation sickness.

On 31 March 2022, two columns of the occupiers marched from the occupied Chornobyl zone toward the Ukrainian border with the Republic of Belarus.
