European Council President Charles Michel said he was shocked by reports of atrocities committed by russians in Kyiv region and pointed out that further sanctions awaited Russia.

He wrote about that on Twitter.

“I am shocked by the haunting images of atrocities committed by the russian army in the Kyiv liberated region,” he said, adding the hashtag #BuchaMassacre.

According to Charles Michel, the EU is assisting Ukraine and non-governmental organizations in gathering of necessary evidence “for pursuit in international courts.”

“Further EU sanctions and support are already on the way,” he said.

German Finance Minister Christian Lindner also responded to the tragedy

“Photos from Bucha once again prove the criminal nature of the war against Ukraine. This is unbearable. From tomorrow, we will discuss with our partners how to further strengthen sanctions against Putin,” he wrote on Twitter.

After the liberation of Bucha, the city mayor Anatoliy Fedoruk reported about hundreds of killed locals. According to him, 280 people were buried in the mass grave. He also said that the bodies of murdered people, some 14 years old, were lying on the streets of the city.

“All these people were shot and killed in the back of the head,” said Anatoliy Fedoruk.
