Chernihiv was destroyed by 70% after shelling and attacks by the russian army, Vladyslav Atroshenko, the mayor of Chernihiv, said on the air of the national telethon, as reported by UNIAN.

“Our city resembles Bucha, and in some areas it is already like Mariupol. People want to know how to live through until tomorrow,” he said.

He also emphasized the need for better defence of the city in the future.

“There is concentration of russian troops here on the border with Belarus. We want to know how the air defense systems will work, or the bombs will continue falling on our heads,” Atroshenko added.

As claimed by Victor Nikolyuk the commander of troops of North Operational Command, russians are forced to withdraw their troops from Chernihiv because of declining moral and psychological condition of russian troops, poor condition of equipment, lack of material and technical supply and ammunition.

1 April, the head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, Vyacheslav Chaus, said that the russian army was withdrawing from the Chernihiv region, but air and missile strikes in the region were still possible.
