Russia distributed threatening notes before the voting procedure in the UN Human Rights Council.

This was reported by CNN, citing numerous sources.

According to CNN, on the eve of the voting procedure on the US initiative to suspend russia's participation in the UN Human Rights Council, the russians handed out the notes containing threats of "consequences" to the representatives of UN member states.

A note from the russians available to CNN reads: "It should be noted that we will consider an unfriendly gesture support for such an initiative and an equidistant position (abstention or non-participation) during the voting procedure."

On 7 April 2022, the United Nations General Assembly suspended the russian federation's participation in the Human Rights Council. The reason for the resolution was the crimes committed by russian troops in the Kyiv region.

Ninety-three countries supported the decision to exclude russia from the UN Human Rights Council out of 193 members of the General Assembly. Twenty-four countries voted against the exclusion, and fifty-eight countries abstained.
