EU sanctions against russia have been published in the EU's official journal. The "black list" includes heads of russian state corporations, oligarchs, as well as banks and companies.
The personal sanctions affected 216 people, including Sberbank Director Herman Href, russian oligarch Oleh Derypaska, businessmen Ihor and Borys Rotenberg, Putin's daughter Maria Vorontsova, son of Suleiman Kerimov, Said, Volodymyr Bohdanov (Surhutnaftohaz) and others.
In addition, the EU froze the assets of four russian banks:
- VTB;
- Novikombank;
- Sovcombank;
- "Otkrytie."
The following russian state corporations are also subject to sanctions:
- "russian cars;
- United Motor Corporation;
- State Transport Leasing Company;
a number of shipbuilding, military-industrial, machine-building and transport companies.
This is the fifth package of sanctions implemented on russia. It became effective today. "The aim of our sanctions is to stop the reckless, inhuman, and aggressive behaviour of the russian troops and make clear to the decision-makers in the Kremlin that their illegal
aggression comes at a heavy cost," - said Josep Borrell, the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
