Third exchange of prisoners of war – Ukraine returns 26 people

The third exchange of prisoners of war with Russia took place today.

Deputy Prime Minister - Minister for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk informed about this.

The exchange took place under the order of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Twelve of our servicemen are returning home, including one female officer. We also secured release of 14 civilians, including 9 women.

"In total 26 of our people," Vereshchuk said.

On 1 April, 86 Ukrainian servicemen were released, including 15 women.

On 24 March, 19 sailors from Snake Island and 10 other servicemen returned to Ukraine. In return, Ukraine handed over 10 captured occupiers and 11 civilian Russian sailors, whom Ukrainians rescued from a sunken ship near Odesa.

Before that, Ukraine exchanged the captured mayor of Melitopol for conscripts sent by Russia to war.
