Russian occupants broke up one more peaceful rally in Kherson.
It was informed by the first Deputy Chairman of the Kherson Regional Council Yurii Sobolevskyi.
He said the city residents gathered near the Yuvileynyi Cinema-Concert Hall for the peaceful rally devoted to the memory of victims of the russian aggression. The russian military, however, dispersed the people.
“The threat of violence, terror, lies, humanitarian catastrophe. It is what they brought to the Kherson region. Many people have been intimidated, many people have left the region acting at their own risk, many people have just disappeared, and there is no possibility to find out what has happened to them,” – said Sobolevskyi.
“Each rally poses a huge risk for every participant, but people still go out. Despite everything. Kherson is Ukraine!”, - he added.
Russian forces occupied Kherson on the first day of the war. Despite this, the rallies have been held in the city almost every day. The city residents stress that Kherson is a Ukrainian city. The occupants throw flash-bang grenades at the rally participants and use tear gas against them, the people, anyways, continue their peaceful resistance.
On 6 March, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded Kherson, as well the cities of Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Mariupol, Hostomel, and Volnovakha, the honorable title of the “Hero City”.
As of 09 April, there are no green corridors agreed for the people to be evacuated from Kherson. Those who dare to leave the city do it at their own risk
