Deputy Commander of the “Azov” regiment Svyatoslav Palamar stressed that the regiment's fighters will never surrender Mariupol to russian occupiers, but they need attention and help.
In his video address he said that despite the politicians' statements about constant contact with the city's defenders, they have not been contacted for more than two weeks.
"Many people today are talking about the defense of Mariupol. That we are fighting the overwhelming forces of the enemy, that we are holding back a large horde. That we don’t let the russians go further and thus detain the entire russian army. Everyone is happy that the horde is not going further. "But did you think about how to be here? How to fight in such conditions? What do the defenders of Mariupol feel?" - Palamar said.
"This is when they text you:" How are you, friend? …"And 5 minutes ago you put in a black bag your comrade, whom you`ve known for 7 years. This is when your yesterday's platoon leader, who is 22 years old, commands a battalion," - he added.
Palamar also spoke about the heroic deeds of the "Azov" fighters.
"This is when the “Azov” unit storms the company of elite special forces ... This is when a seriously wounded comrade escapes from the hospital because he promised to help his friends to fight at the forefront ... This is when our surgeons perform extremely complex operations and amputations in inhumane conditions... When a slim little girl runs under the Grad MLRS shelling and saves people's lives ... This is when a 19-year-old boy modestly talks about how he managed to destroy 20 pieces of military equipment, "- Palamar said.
He also stressed that the citizens, who are protected by the Azov fighters from the russian occupiers, are in a terrible situation.
"When girls make soup from what they have, if you can call it that, but you can’t eat it because a hungry child dies in a couple of blocks and you can't help it. That's when a battle-wounded officer screams "Glory to Ukraine!" and blows himself up with a grenade so as not to surrender ... This is when the boys hear in dream the cries of those children who were burned alive," added the Deputy Commander of the “Azov” regiment.
Palamar promised not to surrender the city and stressed that as long as “Azov” is in Mariupol, Mariupol will remain Ukrainian.

Russian troops destroyed Mariupol almost completely. The enemy controls a part of the city, has a numerical advantage, but the Ukrainian defenders firmly hold the defense. There are street fights in the city, and in addition to that, it is constantly shelled from the air. About 130,000 locals need to be evacuated, but russia does not give permission for the humanitarian corridor and does not allow to deliver humanitarian aid.
Occupying troops organized a "mopping-up" in the city and killed civilians just on the streets. All those who love Ukraine and did not surrender to the occupiers are considered to be "Nazis" by the russians.
