President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that restraining the occupiers' attack on Kyiv is not the final victory.
He said this in an interview with "60 minutes" on the CBS channel.
"I'm sure we can't say we won the battle for Kyiv. What's the price of losing something? I can't evaluate it. I can only say it after we win this war, when we liberate all the territories. Because Bucha is a part of the great Kyiv, Kyiv region. Bucha, Irpin, Hostomel. If people were completely abolished there - did we win this battle? I'm not sure. We kept it and did not give up, I can confirm this. And did we win? I'm not ready to say yet," he said.
On the first day of the full-scale war, the Russian troops came to separate settlements of Kyiv region. There were also reconnaissance and sabotage groups and enemy's equipment in the capital. In Bucha, Irpin, Hostomel, Borodyanka, Makariv, and other settlements, russians destroyed everything they saw, including houses, schools, hospitals, and kindergartens. It is known about the mass rape of women and children, about the mass graves of killed and tortured Ukrainians.
At the end of March, due to the resistance of Ukrainian forces, russians began to retreat. On 2 April, the Ministry of Defense announced that Kyiv region was completely liberated from the occupiers. However, demining and elimination of the consequences of russian aggression are still being carried out on its territory.
