The success of the Ukrainian troops on the battlefield and the strict sanctions against russia are the directions, defining the duration time of the war. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that in his appeal to the nation.
“The success of our army on the battlefield is really important. Historically important. But it is still insufficient for dismissing occupiers from our land. We will fight them more.
The sanctions against russia are pretty serious. They are economically painful. But they are still weak to leave russian military system close to the bone. Let’s promote stronger, more destructive,” the President said.
According to him, when the peace comes depends completely on the volumes of support for Ukraine.
“The faster and the more weapon that we have asked for we get, the stronger positions we have and the faster peace comes. The faster and the bigger the financial support we have asked for we get, the faster peace comes. The faster the democratic world recognizes the oil embargo against russia and its banking sector blocking at full extent as must have for peace, the faster the war ends,” Zelenskyy said.
He thanked for defenders of Ukraine for their great job.
“Task number one is approaching peace. Our Armed Forces do great job for that. They stop occupiers’ attacks. They stage a counter-attack. They have scared in a good way the russian aviation, making them apply strategic long-range aircrafts,” the President admitted, adding that the diplomats need to continue their active work in all possible directions, at all possible levels, both official and informal.
Earlier, Pentagon disclosed the subject of new aid package for Ukraine at $800 m. It includes, in particular, 18 howitzers, 200 armored personnel carriers, 500 Javelins, 300 Switchblade drones etc. Moreover, the package includes coastal defense vessels, explosives, chemical, biological, and nuclear protective equipment, 30,000 sets of body armor and helmets, over 2,000 devices of scope and laser sights as well as medical devices.
