Russia may use nuclear or other non-conventional, for example, chemical, weapons. The world has to seriously prepare for this.

This was said by President Zelenskyy at the meeting with Ukrainian journalists, Lb.ua reports.

“Russia may use any weapon. You cannot trust them. The same applies to our security guarantees — they need to be written out taking into account that the next day Russians will go at us with weapons. Let them go, but we will be able to respond then,” the President says.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine is working with its western partners on getting means of protection from chemical weapons, but wants to get them now or as soon as possible.

A certain country says all the time: if there is a use (of nuclear or other non-conventional weapons – Ed.), we will impose something. If Russia goes ahead, then we will (do something). I think this is a big provocation. We shouldn’t wait for Russia to use a nuclear weapon, but the world needs to prepare for this. And I’m talking not only about antidotes or shelters. We have to speak with them (Russians – Ed.), sign papers, and put such pressure on the economy that they wouldn’t even think about it,” Zelenskyy says.

For now, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine doesn’t forecast the use of nuclear weapons.

However, at the end of March, the Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida expressed an opinion that the prospect of the Russian Federation using nuclear weapons, as for now, “is becoming more and more real”. And the director of CIA William Burns notes that because of “potential despair”, the president of Russia Vladimir Putin, trying to give the appearance of victory in Ukraine, can order to use a nuclear weapon.
