On Tuesday, April 19, the fifth prisoner exchange took place since the start of the full-scale war. Ukraine managed to return 60 military personnel, 10 of them officers and 16 civilians.
That was reported by Deputy Prime Minister for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk.
“Today we exchanged 60 military personnel, 10 of them officers. 16 civilians are also returning home. This was the fifth prisoner exchange. There are 76 people in total,” she posted on Facebook.
The fourth prisoner exchange with russia took place on Thursday, April 14. Then Ukraine returned 30 people, including 8 civilians. On the same day, it was reported that an exchange of war prisoners took place in the Kherson region. In the area of the village of Posad-Pokrovske, four russian military prisoners were exchanged for five of ours.
On April 9, the third prisoner exchange took place, with Ukraine returning 26 people. Among them were 12 Ukrainian military personnel, of whom one was a female officer, and 14 civilians, including 9 women.
Before that, Ukraine exchanged the captive mayor of Melitopol for enlisted soldiers who had been sent to the war by russia.
On April 1, 86 Ukrainian military personnel, including 15 women, were released.
On March 24, 19 sailors from Zmiinyi Island and 10 more soldiers returned to Ukraine. Ukraine gave back 10 captured occupants and 11 civilian russian sailors we rescued from a sunken ship near Odessa.
