Lithuania banned the public demonstration of the ribbon of St.George and other symbols of the russia’s war against Ukraine, which is punishable by a fine.

On Tuesday, the Seimas adopted respective amendments in the laws “On Offences” and “On Charges”. The resolution was voted for by 124 members of the Seimas, one member was against, and two parliamentarians abstained.

Amendments will become effective after they are signed by the president Gitanas Nauseda, informs Lithuanian portal Delfi

“Amendments in this law are not just necessary, they are mandatory for our national security if we want to avoid a fate like Ukraine’s and take preventive measures against russian propaganda. The latter is on alert and is looking for various ways to turn people against each other, and change their mentality, and reality. As we see, it is effective, and the reality has already been changed in the heads of the russia’s citizens,” said one of the authors of the amendments, member of the Faction of Freedom Ionika Oshmianskene.

On 1 April, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law on the ban of the symbols of the aggressor country.

Letters “Z”, “V” are recognized as the symbols of the military invasion. Russia is named the terrorist state committing state genocide of the Ukrainian people. National legislation has also enshrined that the russian federation adheres to the principles of the fascist and nazi regimes of Hitler and Mussolini.
