On 19 April 2022, Olexiy Chernyshov, the Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, together with Prime Minister of Poland Mateush Moravetskiy, Poland’s Minister Michal Dvorchyk, Lviv city major Andriy Sadoviy, and Chair of Lviv Oblast Military Administration Maxym Kozytskiy, opened the first turn of the modular town for internally displaced persons in Lviv.
“This modular town id the result of a well-coordinated work with our Polish partners that provided it in extremely short terms. Today, we have started accommodating displaced persons from eastern Oblasts (regions) of Ukraine. Women, children, and the elderly who had to flee from their homes are among them,” Olexiy Chernyshov pointed out.
They plan to totally erect three modular towns for the accommodation of more than one thouthand of internally displaced persons. The infrastructure of such a town is to accommodate 350 persons and contains residential modulars as well as satinary (shower, toilet) modulars, premises for eating and administrative modulars. The town is equipped with electricity, central heating and – importantly – with the necessary furnitire and belongings.
Such construction type is the first one installed in Ukraine, fully compliant with technical requirements, climate peculiarities, and is comfortable for temporary residence in any season of the year.
The next stage of cooperation with Polish partners provides for the erection of towns for the accommodation of 5 thousand persons monthly.
“We understand that such option is a temporary one! Today, Ukrainian Government is actively elaborating the programs to provide long-term options for solving the dwelling issues that internally displaces persons have as well as for reconstruction of the destroyed housing stock,” – Olexiy Chernyshov emphasized.
He also expressed gratitude to Polish partners who provide support to refugees from Ukraine in such a difficult time and who get involved in accommodating internally displaced persons on the territory of Ukraine. Olexiy Chernyshov also thanked to Andriy Sadoviy for prompt allocation of land plots for the towns and equipping them with utility systems.
