The European Union blocked russian assets by EUR 35 billion due to the war in Ukraine. It is reported by Bloomberg with reference to the calculations of the European Commission.
Most of the funds blocked by France - EUR 23.5 billion, where the majority, 22.8 billion - is the money of the Russian Central Bank. Belgium blocked EUR 10 billion of seven Russian banks disconnected from the international payment system SWIFT. Italy has arrested Russian yachts and real estate for a EUR 1 billion. Almost a billion has blocked by Ireland, half a billion by the Netherlands, more than 300 million by Germany.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he is confident in the introduction of an oil embargo and is waiting for this decision in the next sanctions package of the European Union.
