World Health Organization (WHO) reported at least 162 attacks on medical facilities in Ukraine since the start of Russia’s war in Ukraine, CNN reports.
"Attacks on health care facilities violate international law and threaten lives. Healthcare workers, hospitals, and ambulances should NEVER be targeted,” the WHO wrote.
According to WHO, the attacks happened between February 24 and April 16. As a result of these attacks, 52 people were wounded, and 73 people were killed. The attacks targeted medical facilities, transport, personnel, patients, materials, and warehouses.
The WHO Regional Director for Europe, Dr. Hans Kluge, stated that the organization was working to ensure that medicines and medical supplies were delivered to cities and towns across Ukraine despite the attacks.
