Ukraine is working on the issue of lend-lease not only with the United States but also with European partners.
This was announced by Deputy Head of the President's Office Andriy Sybiha on a telethon, Radio Svoboda reports.
"The bill on the lend-lease has already been considered in the US Senate, now it is expected to be considered in the House of Representatives. Next week in the US Congress will be a session, so Ukraine expects further passage of this bill. "This land lease bill is of historical significance for Ukraine. It will speed up the sending of military equipment to Ukraine against the background of the russian invasion," Sybiha said.
According to his words, the issue of lend-lease was discussed during the visit of European Council President Charles Michel to Ukraine.
"Our needs have been brought to Germany; our dialogue is on a regular basis. Within the European Union, 1.5 bln euros have been allocated for the purchase of weapons for Ukraine for priority needs. According to the capabilities of a country," Sybiha said.
For the first time since World War II, the United States may introduce a land lease program. If the bill, which was approved by the Senate on April 7, is supported by the House of Representatives, and signed by US President Joe Biden, Kyiv will receive the US defense weapons and equipment under a simpler procedure.
