The Governor of the State of West Virginia (USA) Jim Justice said that National Guard was going to send armored personnel carriers [APCs] to Ukraine which resisted the russian aggression.
Apnews reports about M113 armored personnel carriers. These vehicles can carry soldiers and equipment ensuring protection from small arms.
“We hope and pray that this will give Ukrainian forces a major leg up in their defense of their home country,” Justice said in a statement.
The Governor did not confirm the number of APCs.
Earlier this year he had ordered to stop the trade of any drinks from russia in his State. The Governor asked West Virginia Retailers Association to remove russia produced drinks from their stores.
M113 is the main caterpillar APC used by US armed forces and armed forces of many other countries. A crew of M113 consists of 2 soldiers: driver and commander. Apart from them, this APC can carry up to 11 soldiers.
The armament of M113 APC consists of one 12,7 mm machinegun M2HB. The machinegun is located over the commander’s turret. This allows shooting in all directions. The ammunition consists of 2000 bullets, 100 bullet cartridges per ammunition belt.
The USA also delivers multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) to Ukraine.
The Minister of Defense of the USA Lloyd Ostin will visit Germany next week to negotiate with allies the defensive needs of Ukraine.
