The Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orbán, in a conversation with Pope Francis, said that russia's plan is to end the war on May 9.

The pontiff said this in an interview with Corriere Della Sera.

“Orban, when I met with him, told me that the russians had a plan that it would end on May 9. I hope this is true so that we also understand the rate of escalation these days. Because now it's not just Donbas, it's Crimea, it's Odesa, it's taking the Black Sea port away from Ukraine, that's all,” Pope Francis stated.

He added, “I'm pessimistic, but we have to do everything we can to stop the war”.

Earlier, British Secretary of State for Defence Ben Wallace said that the russian federation could use the May 9 celebration to announce a mass mobilization of reserves for the war with Ukraine.

According to the British newspaper The Times, russia plans to land troops from occupied Crimea on the territory of unrecognized Transnistria on May 9. At the same time, protests and riots are planned in Chisinau.
