The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine thanked the Pope for his attention to Ukraine during the full-scale military invasion of russia, the spokesman of the MFA Oleh Nikolenko informed.

He stated that he has read the interview with Pope Francis for Italian Corriere Della Sera carefully.

"We appreciate that Ukraine remains in the center of his attention. We are grateful for the Pope`s efforts to establish just peace and to stop the war that was not provoked in any way by Ukraine, NATO or any other third party. And it has become evident for the Pontiff and for the whole world that neither russia, nor personally putin are interested in stopping the bloodshed on the Ukrainian territory," Nikolenko said.

The MFA noted that the Pope stated that Moscow ignored all Vatican`s appeals to stop the war.

"At the same time, Ukraine confirms its dedication to dialogue and once again repeats the invitation to the Holy Father to visit Kyiv. We believe that the good will certainly win over evil. We encourage the Holy Father to keep praying for Ukrainians and to strive for peace in Ukraine," the MFA`s spokesman added.

Pope Francis has criticized head of the russian Orthodox Church Kirill for justifying putin's war against Ukraine, the Pontiff said in the interview for Corriere della Sera.
