Greece has launched a procedure to abandon Russian gas, according to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. This was reported by Kathimerini.
Mitsotakis announced the official start of construction of a floating storage terminal and LNG gasification in Alexandroupolis.
"The project in Alexandroupolis is a new energy gate and a beacon that sends a double signal: we will soon be able to get rid of gas coming from Russian sources, and our countries will play a common role in the new energy map," said the Greek Prime Minister.
He said Greek stations could cover the local market as well as replace some of Russia's gas.
Earlier, Germany and Greece increased gas supplies to Poland and Bulgaria.
