As of today, there are about 1 000 schools on the territory not controlled by Ukraine. Serhiy Shkarlet, the Minister of Education and Science, informed about this on the national telethon on May 4.
"We have about 1 000 institutions in the uncontrolled territory of Ukraine," the Minister of Education said.
The directors of most of these schools have resigned and are not cooperating with the occupiers. There are about 10 000-11 000 teachers in the uncontrolled territory.
According to the Minister, 12.7 thousand schools are functioning in Ukraine from 13.8 thousand schools located in the country.
To remind, all general and secondary education institutions in 14 regions are continuing the educational process at a distance. Serhiy Shkarlet informed about this in an interview with LB.ua that as of April 25.
In three regions, either distanced, mixed or full-time lessons are ongoing; in six areas, a distance educational process was arranged.
There are vacations in some schools or the lessons were stopped. In the Lviv region, about half of full-time education is carried out in educational institutions. More than 23 000 teachers and more than 600 000 students left Ukraine.
