Due to the destructive actions of the russian occupation army in the Crimea and the Black Sea over the past week, a large number of dolphins and birds have died.

The Representation of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea informed about this.

"The mass death of dolphins was observed by Ivan Rusev, Doctor of Biological Sciences from Odesa. He informed that no evidence of poaching was observed on the dead animals, and the deaths are related to the actions of russian troops in the Black Sea. According to open sources, local activists from Sevastopol also informed about dead or injured dolphins, but did not specify the reasons for their injuries, "- the Representation informed.

The animals are negatively affected by constant shots from surface and submarine shells, the use of military sonar, and the irradiation of navigation devices of enemy ships.

"Also in the occupied Crimea near Sevastopol there was a massive sudden death of seabirds, due to the terrible militarization of the peninsula," – the Representation added with reference to experts. The Representation also pointed out that we should be aware of loss of "much of the biodiversity in Crimea and mainland".

It is currently impossible to determine the exact number of injured animals due to the military activities.
