First Lady Olena Zelenska called on international partners to be more active in providing arms assistance. She stressed, that she was grateful for the humanitarian aid, but Ukraine also needed weapons.
She said this in an interview with Good Morning Britain.
“We are grateful for the humanitarian aid, for the reception and care of our people. We are very grateful. However, it should be understood that baby food will be unnecessary if children die. Diapers? It would be good if mothers could change them not in the bomb shelters. What do we need? Weapons. Yes, mothers, children and the elderly in Ukraine need weapons that will be taken up by their defenders and fight off the enemy from the borders of Europe”, she said.
Zelenska stressed that weapons are also needed so that Ukrainian refugees can return home and rebuild their economy.
“Therefore, we ask you not to stop, to speed up the supply of heavy weapons. We are especially grateful for the resolute position of the British government on this issue. We receive absolute understanding from Boris Johnson not only in words but also in such urgent assistance with weapons”, Olena Zelenska said.
We are reminding, that on April 27, British Deputy Secretary of Defense James Gippi said that Britain would be able to hand over anti-ship missiles "Brimstone" to Ukraine in the next few weeks. Brimstone homing missiles are usually used from airplanes. They are designed to defeat both maritime and land targets. Range of missiles of the first model - up to 20 km, the second modification - up to 60 km.
