Russia is an existential threat not only to Ukraine. Antisemitic statements of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of russia and personally Sergei Lavrov are evidence to this, the Head of the OPU Andriy Yermak stated in the interview for Times of Israel.
"His [Lavrov`s] statement about Hitler`s "Jewish blood" is more than just a bad tone. It`s not only a denial of the Holocaust and putting blame on its victims. It's the same revisionism of history that Moscow allegedly fights with," he said. "Its [russian] denial of the Ukrainian state`s and Ukrainian nation`s right to exist, extreme cruelty of the russian troops that torture and execute our peaceful citizens, systematic destruction of our cultural heritage – too much in these actions reminds of the views and practices of the Nazis."
He also stated that russia tries to blame for its crimes those it commits them against. Even if it means opposing the historical truth.
"History knows one Holocaust. But neither the misanthropic worldview, nor the condescending rhetoric, nor the atrocious methods of its organizers and performers are in the past. A new page in the rich common history of Jews and Ukrainians has been added," the Head of the OPU is convinced. "That's why I urge Israel to respond to this offensive and criminal russian policy firmly and resolutely, to take the side of Ukraine. Because everyone who supports goodness, democracy, freedom has to believe that Ukraine will most certainly win. And we will win indeed."
Minister of Foreign Affairs of russia Sergei Lavrov stated that "the most ardent antisemites are usually Jews".
