Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a virtual conference with the 43rd President of the United States of America George Bush, the Office of the President of Ukraine informs.
"It`s a great honor to get acquainted with you. I want to thank the USA, the American nation. I`ve seen how people in the USA treat us in social media, they go out on the streets, support Ukraine with flags," Zelenskyy said.
Bush expressed his support for the Ukrainian President and the whole Ukrainian nation for fighting russian aggressor.
"Your courage is very important for further success. If you keep doing what you are doing, you will always have our support, if you keep fighting as you do now," he stated.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine feels real help and genuine support from the United States.
"Your country has been invaded by forces that want to kill innocent people. And the fact that you stand firmly inspires Americans," emphasized George Bush.
Zelenskyy, for his part, remembered tragic events that occurred in the USA on September 11, 2001. He pointed out that many Ukrainians sympathized with the Americans and shared the pain of relatives and loved ones of the victims of the terrorist attack.
"Our conversation is important for me because you are an example of a strong leader," he stated.
Zelenskyy also invited the 43rd President of the USA to visit Ukraine at his convenience.
On March 19 the 42nd and the 43rd Presidents of the USA Bill Clinton and George Bush expressed their support for Ukraine that resists russian military invasion. They laid a bouquet of sunflowers outside the Ukrainian church in Chicago.
