The U.S. State Secretary Anthony Blinken and Japan's national security advisor Takeo Akiba discussed the cooperation concerning sanctions against russia. "Interfax-Ukraine" reports that citing the State Department's statement.
"The Secretary expressed appreciation for Japan’s leadership in supporting Ukraine, and they discussed how to best cooperate to impose further costs on Russia for its aggression," – the report reads.
The interlocutors also discussed expanding economic cooperation and strengthening the global rules-based international order with the help of the U.S.-Japan Economic Policy Consultative Committee.
They also greeted the efforts aiming at strengthening the cooperation of the U.S., Japan, and South Korea to support the complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula and other shared goals.
The meeting took place in Washington on 3 May.
Japan and the U.S. will hold joint exercises with the Marines this autumn.
