India is trying to get bigger discounts on Russian oil to offset the risks of cooperation with Moscow.

This was reported by Bloomberg.

According to the agency, Delhi wants to get oil with delivery at a price below $ 70 per barrel.

India's public and private refineries, the world's third-largest oil importers, have bought more than 40 million barrels of Russian oil since invading Ukraine in late February. This is 20% more than the flow from Russia to India in 2021, according to Bloomberg.

India, which imports more than 85 percent of its oil, is one of the few buyers of Russian oil, a key source of income for Vladimir Putin's regime. Declining European demand is putting serious pressure on Russia's oil industry, and Moscow predicts that production could fall by 17% this year.

It will be recalled that the EU today presents the sixth package of sanctions with the disconnection of key banks from SWIFT and a phased oil embargo.
