Russia's escalation of the situation in Transnistria is a psychological attack on Ukraine - intelligence

Russia is inflating the situation in the Transnistrian region of Moldova for a psychological attack on our state and to disperse the forces of the Ukrainian army.

This was emphasized by the Chief Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

“Aware of the lack of significant success in the so-called “special operation” against Ukraine and the effectiveness of Ukrainian units, the occupation command is trying to create zones of instability near the Ukrainian border and the threat of attack by russian and pro-russian armed forces from Transnistria”, the CDI said.

Ukrainian intelligence says that according to experts, the number of really capable and motivated personnel of russian troops in the Transnistrian region of Moldova does not exceed 300 people. They guard ammunition depots in the village Kovbasna.

Interestingly, most of the ammunition has expired and is not transportable. Only 7-8 thousand tons are serviceable and can be used.

“About two-thirds of all military equipment in Transnistria is completely or partially incapable of fighting, and does not have the material means and production capacity to repair and restore it”, the CDI added.

Intelligence says russia could potentially use the Transnistrian region as a foothold to establish supply lines and ensure the deployment of a russian group in Moldova. But this is possible in the case of creating a land corridor through the southern regions of Ukraine.

We are reminding, that intelligence recently reported that a newspaper about “bloody terrorist attacks” had been published in Transnistria in advance, calling on Putin to help.

According to the British newspaper The Times, russia may attack Moldova on May 9.
