The war unleashed by russia in Ukraine has destroyed 24 kilometers of roads, 9,000 of which are roads of state importance. Damage to road infrastructure amounts to more than 900bn hryvnias.

This was stated in the media center “Ukraine” by the first deputy head of Ukravtodor Andriy Ivko.

According to him, Ukravtodor is currently restoring damaged infrastructure, in particular in the Kyiv region, which has been liberated from the occupation.

“The main task is to make passageways where bridges are destroyed. We have already installed 30 temporary structures on which you can move. We have cleared 750 km of roads in different cities, including state roads. In the Kyiv region, 220 km of roads of municipal importance were cleared, we are talking about Irpin, Bucha, and Hostomel. And another 260 km of roads of state importance. We have installed 17 temporary structures, and we are now working on the restoration of two more,” Andriy Ivko said.

Priorities for reconstruction are determined jointly with the Ukrainian Armed Forces and Military Administrations. It is they who inform which roads or bridges are needed for military and humanitarian needs.

Ivko added that there is already fully resumed traffic on the highway Kyiv - Chop and Kyiv - Kovel - Yahodyn.

Earlier, it was reported that the Kyiv - Zhytomyr traffic on the Warsaw highway was fully restored. This became possible with the opening of traffic on the bridge over the Teteriv River on May 4. The bridge is made of rubble and crushed stone-sand mix, with concrete blocks along its edge.
